Our Mission

BRE Center was created to help every child diagnosed with autism or a related disorder reach their full potential by providing the highest quality of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Discrete Trial Training (DTT) services.  BRE Center accomplishes this by developing superior staff and engaging in cutting-edge research.  We commit our resources to the development of quality staff via stringent selection, thorough initial training, and continuous training and feedback; and to the development, incorporation, and dissemination of research via conference presentations and the publication of articles and books.

Our Vision

BRE Center’s vision is guided by our objective to be the world’s best ABA service provider.  Being the best means promoting and fostering exceptional quality, integrity, innovation, teamwork, professionalism, and accountability, so that every child is given an opportunity to realize his/her own dreams.

Our Values

Passion…to bring both dedication and unwavering enthusiasm to our work, the children we serve, and the field in which we practice, thereby delivering superior services to those children.

Innovation…to be pioneers in the field and in all aspects of our organization, from the procedures and interventions utilized to the processes by which the organization runs.

Collaboration…to espouse teamwork in everything we do, from working together as individual treatment teams to collaborating with other professionals in the field.

Integrity…to walk the walk and talk the talk, modeling the behaviors and principles we advance.

Respect…to understand, empathize with, and value everyone we interact with, for although it is our commonalities that draw us together, it is our differences that truly expand our horizons.

Communication…to speak honestly and openly.

Accountability...to assume responsibility for our performance, in the words that we use, for the work we do, and commitments we make.

Autism Treatment

ABA is the only empirically validated treatment for children with autism, and is supported by more than 30 years of research and experience.  In his definitive 1987 study, Dr. O. Ivar Lovaas found that with early intensive behavior intervention for children with autism, "47% achieved normal intellectual and education functioning."  ABA's successful results have been replicated numerous times since.  No other treatment (e.g., speech therapy, occupational therapy, medications, diets) has withstood the rigors of scientific testing, or has been scientifically validated to be as effective as ABA.

About the Executive Director

Bob Chen has worked in the ABA field for over a decade.  He began working with children with autism as an undergraduate at UCLA under the guidance of Dr. O. Ivar Lovaas.  Bob worked with Dr. Lovaas for over 7 years before becoming the Clinical Director of another agency in 2004.  His passion for quality services led to the development of the Center for Behavior Research and Education in 2007.  He graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's in Psychology and CSULA with a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy.  He is a member of the California Association for Behavior Analysis (CalABA) and the Association of Behavior Analysis International (ABA International).
