Research
BRE Center is dedicated to the contributing research to the field of ABA and autism treatment. We will update this page with research articles of interest as well as what we are researching.
Research Studies
Lovaas (1987) - The seminal study that demonstrated the efficacy of Early, Intensive Behavior Intervention (EIBI) for children with autism. This study "showed that 47% [of children receiving EIBI] achieved normal intellectual and education functioning, with normal-range IQ scores and successful first grade performance in public schools."
Howard et. al. (2005) - This study found that, consistent with previous research, intensive (25-40 hours) ABA "is considerably more efficacious than “eclectic” intervention."
Sallows & Graupner (2005) - One of the most recent replications of the original study. This study "found that 48% of all children [who received intensive behavioral treatment] showed rapid learning, achieved average post-treatment scores, and at age 7, were succeeding in regular education classrooms. Treatment outcome was best predicted by pretreatment imitation, language, and social responsiveness."
